Top 5 must read young adult thrillers
The Obsession by Jesse Q. Sutanto is an exciting book with plenty of surprises and twists that are not expected. This book also reminds me a bit of the book (and tv show) You written by Caroline Kepnes. The way the author chose to write the conclusion was great. It wouldn’t have made sense for the main female character to react differently than she did.
Hatchet Girls by Diana Rodriguez Wallach made the list because I loved that she set the book in my home state of Massachusetts. I also am a fan of the way the author used real events that have occurred in the past as well as local myths and legends such as the Bridgewater Triangle. There are some graphic scenes though which may not be for everyone.
This Is Where We Die by Cindy R. X. He had me gasping out loud at least once per page. This ties with Hatchet Girls as having the most unexpected surprises thrown at readers. The paranoia that each character experienced added so much tension to the story and the ending was perfect for the story being told.
We Were Warned by Chelsea Ichaso is the definition of a page turner. I could not put this down until I read the last word on the final page. Get ready for a twisted trip if you read this (which you really should) that will keep you guessing.
Their Vicious Games by Joelle Wellington is like a book version of the movie Ready or Not that was released in 2019. This entire book is a trip and it will leave you guessing which characters can be trusted and which would stab you in the back the first chance they got.
