The room was cold, silent save for the low hum of machinery in the corners. Daniel’s eyes adjusted to the dim light as he glanced at the people around him, each cloaked in their own shadows. These were the “heathens,” as the rest of society called them, a group of outcasts society had cast away, shunned, but united by a bond few would understand. They were gathered here, awaiting judgment — but Daniel was new.
